Sernaz Arslan

Postdoctoral Researcher

Sernaz Arslan is post-doctoral researcher at the Migration Research Center at Koç University (MiReKoc) in Istanbul, Turkey. She completed her PhD in Political Science at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2023, focusing on rural-to-urban migrant families’ experiences and practices of urban appropriation and urban citizenship in Istanbul based on a three-generational analysis. She received her BA in International Relations at Koç University, and MA in European Studies and Integration at the University of Amsterdam. She has been part of the Cost Action “Writing Urban Places: New Narratives of the Mid-Size European City” (2019-2023). Her research agenda includes migration, right to the city, feminist geography, belonging, and multidisciplinary research methods in urban studies.
