Webinar: IOM World Migration Report: Implications for Turkey

Since 2000, IOM has been producing world migration reports. The World Migration Report 2020, the tenth in the world migration report series, has been produced to contribute to increased understanding of migration throughout the world. This new edition presents key data and information on migration as well as thematic chapters on highly topical migration issues. The 2020 report is available in Turkish for the first time.

In collaboration with IOM, Migration Research Center at Koc University will be holding a special webinar titled “IOM World Migration Report: Implications for Turkey”  scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 2021, starting at 15:00 Istanbul time (13:00 CET).

MiReKoc is pleased to welcome Marie McAuliffe from IOM headquarters, Head of Migration Research Division and the editor of IOM’s World Migration Report; Tommaso de Cataldo from IOM Turkey, Programme Coordinator at the Migration Management Programme; and Ayhan Kaya from Istanbul Bilgi University from the Department of International Relations and Director of the European Institute. The webinar will be moderated by Ahmet İçduygu, Director of MiReKoc and faculty member at the Department of International Relations and Sociology.

Participants:

Ahmet İçduygu

Ahmet İçduygu is the Director of the Migration Research Center at Koc (MiReKoc). He holds a dual appointment as a full professor at Koç University, Istanbul, one in the Department of International Relations and the other is in the Department of Sociology. He is also the editor of the International Migration Journal. He holds a Ph.D. in Demography from the Australian National University.

Ayhan Kaya

Ayhan Kaya is Professor of Politics and Jean Monnet Chair of European Politics of Interculturalism at the Department of International Relations, Istanbul Bilgi University; Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence; and a member of the Science Academy, Turkey. He is currently European Research Council Advanced Grant holder (ERC AdG, 2019-2024). He received his Ph.D. and MA degrees at the University of Warwick, England.

Marie McAuliffe

Dr. Marie McAuliffe is the head of the Migration Research Division at IOM headquarters in Geneva and Editor of IOM’s flagship World Migration Report. She is an international migration specialist with more than 20 years of experience in migration as a practitioner, program manager, senior official and researcher.

Tommaso de Cataldo

Dr. Tommaso de Cataldo has the Laurea in Philosophy from the State University in Milano, Italy. Started working for IOM in 1998, and served in the Balkans, West Africa as Chief of Mission in Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Currently coordinates the Migration Management Programme in IOM Turkey.
